A classic, authorized edition of Che Guevara's account of the 1956-58 guerrilla movement against the Batista dictatorship in Cuba. The dramatic art and acute perceptiveness evident in Che's early diaries fully blossom in this highly readable and entertaining account of the guerrilla war that preceded the 1959 Cuban revolution. Among the episodes Che describes are his first meeting with Fidel in Mexico; the mythical moment when he has to choose between a backpack of medicine and another of ammunition; and the anguished story of the murdered puppy.

Featuring a preface by Che Guevara's daughter Aleida, this new, thoroughly revised edition includes for the first time corrections made by Che himself to his diary.

This book is the basis of the first part of Steven Soderbergh's biopic on the life of Che Guevara. "CHE Part Two" is based on Che's Bolivian Diary. Both movies were released in 2009.

Che Guevara was the legendary Latin American guerrilla fighter, born in Argentina, who joined the Cuban revolutionary movement that toppled the Batista dictatorship in 1959. He played a leading role in the early years of the Cuban Revolution. He died at the hands of the CIA in Bolivia in 1967.
